I, like most women, have been dreaming about my wedding since I even knew what a wedding was! I had colors, themes and every other little detail a soon-to-be-bride could possibly think of, planned long before I ever got engaged, let alone knew who I was even going to marry! I guess I never thought it was strange...but apparently my excitement for weddings is a bit more than most women as I have a slight appetite for weddings; so, I pursued a career in wedding and event planning.
It's been a bundle of fun working with different brides on planning their big day! The idea of making her dreams come true is honestly the best feeling in the world! Many brides have asked me if I know what I'll do when I finally get engaged, and needless to say, my answer has always been yes! However, plans change (trust me!) and when you add a second person into the dreams of your big day...you must compromise.
LESSON #1:
It's not just your day...it is yours and your fiance's day...along with all those guests and family members you've invited as well.
Though most fiances are all for their bride being happy and giving them whatever they want, it was important to me to make sure my fiance, Kiel, has had input during the planning process. It was rough at first, most things have been planned or picked by me and my personal tastes and preferences, which has definitely caused some disagreements...but I quickly learned that if I wanted things to go a bit more smooth during this planning process, that I needed to double check with Kiel first...even if I already knew what his answer would be. And for the things I had already put in place, I compromised on other things...like lime green socks for him and his groomsmen to wear (even though it's not in the color scheme of fuchsia, tangerine and chocolate brown...but it makes him happy...and that makes me happy).
Throughout my blog, I'll update you on the happenings in the planning process as well as give the lessons I've learned and tips for planning a wedding on a budget. Keep in mind that you will benefit from having a wedding planner on your side...I'm partial to this seeing as I am one...but even I hired on a wedding planner.
TIP #1:
The best way to save money is to invest into a wedding planner. They know the industry inside and out. With a wedding planner, you will have the ability to save on things such as rentals...but most importantly, you will keep your sanity during the planning process. Having a wedding planner allows you to have an extra voice along with the ease of knowing things will go smoothly on your big day as well as during the planning process. Be sure you click well with your planner. I've had many cases where brides have come to me upset because the planner they originally went with wasn't a perfect fit for the bride as they had originally thought.
I look forward to updating you on new pieces as well as catching you up to date with all the other things I have already accomplished.
